The Castillet or Castellet (in Catalan) is a monument in the city of Perpignan that was in turn the city gate and the state prison. Today it houses the Catalan Museum of Popular Arts and Traditions. It was also called at certain times Baluard or Bastilla.

The square is named after François Arago. He was born in Estagel near Perpignan on February 26, 1786 and died in Paris on October 2, 1853. He was an astronomer, physicist and politician. He discovered that iron takes on magnetic properties when exposed to an electric current. François Aragos grew up with eleven siblings, six boys and five girls. He was friends with Alexander von Humboldt and both were interested in the phenomenon of terrestrial magnetism.

The church building was erected in the Gothic style from 1324. Because of the plague, construction was halted in the 14th century and it was only completed in the 16th century. In May 1509 the first mass was read. In 1601 it was elevated to the status of a cathedral.

Here is the "Chapelle de Tiers Ordre de Saint Dominique" This Dominican monastery was completed in 1774 and is one of the few buildings of Louis XVI. built in Roussillon. This chapel was once converted into a garrison chapel, but became the property of the city of Perpignan at the end of the 20th century. Now you can enjoy art here.

Here is the history of the Hôtel Pams, which is definitely worth a visit and is free of charge. The house was bought by Pierre Bardou in 1852. He is the son of Jean Bardou, who has been producing the JOB cigarette paper brand since 1849. In 1872 further adjoining areas were bought. The owner had a factory built there as a glass and iron construction.

Perpignan Cathedral (French: Basilique-Cathédrale de Saint-Jean-Baptiste de Perpignan; Catalan: Catedral de Sant Joan Baptista de Perpinyà) is a Roman Catholic cathedral, and a national monument of France, located in the town of Perpignan in Languedoc-Roussillon. It is dedicated to Saint John the Baptist. The cathedral was begun in 1324 by King Sancho of Majorca, and later finished in the 15th century. It replaced the cathedral of Elna, and therefore was at first the seat of the Bishop of Elne, and then, from 1602, of the Bishop of Perpignan–Elne.
