Angers Castle is located on the Maine River, near the confluence of the Maine and Loire. Angers is today the capital of the Maine-et-Loire department in the Pays de la Loire region; it was the ancient capital of Anjou.

simply a great bridge over the Loire and a fascinating view. We were so lucky with the fantastic light that morning. Since I didn't take a picture of the bridge itself, I added a bridge view image from Wikipedia.

The Ardoisières park is the result of the redevelopment of a former slate quarry. Today, the vegetation has regained its place.

The ferry is on the Authion and not on the Loire😉

The Angers fortress impresses with its ramparts and towers made of schist and limestone.
