Beautiful little village with beautiful views and opportunities to rest

A beautiful restaurant located directly on the Loire River. Good food and a great location with a beautiful view.

On the former fairground, now Place du Général de Gaulle, you can admire this richly decorated water source. This showpiece was built in 1869 before the arrival of running water. You can see the mechanism through the door. The water flows through the mouth of a lion's head. A source of cooling for swollen feet!

11th century church, part of the network of welcoming churches in Anjou Visit the Saint-Aubin church, built in the 11th century at the initiative of Count Foulques de Nerra of Anjou, in the Petite Cité de Caractère of Blaison-Gohier. This church, dedicated to Saint-Aubin, originally in Romanesque style, was rebuilt in Gothic style from the 12th century onwards. This fortified building has a vault with loopholes and arrow slits and has a remarkable medieval frame, including sculpted oak choir stalls from the 15th century, listed as a historical monument. This church is part of the network of "Reception churches in Anjou" which is open to the public. Guided tours of the church can be arranged on request via the local association Le Sablier. The church, located in the village of Saint-Rémy-la-Varenne, dates from the first half of the 11th century and was then dependent on the Abbey of Saint-Aubin d'Angers; its rich past is reflected in its architecture. We enter the vaulted chapel (added to the original building in the 19th century) with the baptismal font. We discover the nave, which is connected to a bay whose 13th century vault rests on older walls. We then enter the choir, the only part of the building with a 12th century vault, where we can admire the ceiling with a pointed barrel vault. Outside the church, we see the Benedictine priory of Saint-Rémy-la-Varenne, a picturesque building founded in 929 that was formerly dependent on the Abbey of Saint-Aubin d'Angers.
