The Leers-Nord lock is an important lock used to regulate the water levels of the canal and to allow shipping between different parts of the region. The lock itself is a beautiful example of classic lock architecture and is still used for shipping traffic.

La Maison du Canal is a former lock keeper's house located in Leers-Nord, a sub-municipality of Estaimpuis in the province of Hainaut, Wallonia, Belgium. It is part of the RAVeL network, which is a collection of greenways, cycle paths and pedestrian paths in Wallonia. La Maison du Canal is a popular stop for cyclists and walkers following the RAVeL Ligne 83, which was once a railway line connecting Avelgem to Ronse and has now been partially converted into a greenway. The building has been renovated and converted into a tourist information center and café-restaurant
