The large wall at the rear of the ruins has been reinforced. The keep is also now dilapidated. To prevent anyone from climbing the tower, the lower staircase has been removed.

Not only from the castles but also from the hiking trail, the view of Ribeauvillé, the Rhine plain and the Black Forest is phenomenal when the visibility is good.

The ruins are currently being renovated, but the view is phenomenal on a clear day with good visibility. The keep is also freely accessible.

Saunt Ulric Castle is the largest of the three ruins. It is currently undergoing partial renovation. A small section is cordoned off, and caution is advised in other areas. However, the keep is accessible.

A charming Alsatian village with approximately 4,700 inhabitants. The old town is well worth seeing with its colorful houses. Ribeauvillé is also very popular because of the hike to its three castle ruins that overlook the town.

Most of the towers and parts of the city wall have been preserved on the side facing the Strengbach stream (in the south of the city). The Butcher's Tower stands prominently in the city center, separating the Old Town from the central part of the city.

A few steps from the Dolder, towards the western exit, stands an outpost or barbican, the so-called "Upper Gate," dating from around 1300. The massive double-leaf gate and the wooden portcullis from 1536, undoubtedly the oldest in Europe, are particularly striking in the passageway. Given the widespread use of firearms, the inhabitants of Riquewihr felt towards the end of the 15th century that their original fortifications were no longer effective enough. The Duke of Württemberg, Lord of Riquewihr, who wanted to protect the town's inhabitants and the produce of their vineyards, had a second rampart built around 1500, constructed of Vosges sandstone.
