Beginning of the hillsides of the Champagne vineyard

The history of Chézy-sur-Marne is closely linked to that of its abbey. The town was even called Chézy-l'Abbaye until the French Revolution. Today, only ruins of the building remain on the town square.

The church is surrounded by vineyards and rolling hills, so you can expect varied terrain and elevation changes. You can appreciate its Gothic architecture and stained glass windows before or after your run. You can also admire the view of the river and the countryside from the church grounds.

The church dates from the 12th and 14th centuries and you can admire the Romanesque and Gothic architecture which is characterized by a three-bay nave, a dome on pendentives and a choir with a wooden ceiling. You can also explore the surrounding area of the church, which offers panoramic views of the Marne valley and vineyards.

Charly, a former 15th century fortified town in Burgundy, was renamed Charly-sur-Marne in 2006. You will find many beautiful residences there, including the Château de Charly Sur Marne.
