The Church of St. Eugenie, built in neo-Gothic style, is located in Pontonx-sur-l'Adour, a municipality of 2,620 inhabitants located in the Landes department in the New Aquitaine region.

Vincent de Paul, born here in 1581 (later a saint), was a priest and founder of an order. His memorial day in the calendar of saints is September 27, the date of his death in 1660. In addition to his spiritual commitment as a pastor, he is known above all for his charitable work, for which he also founded communities dedicated to caring in various places.

Many churches in France are dedicated to the Virgin Mary. Their title is usually "Notre-Dame", which translates into English as "Our Lady". Sometimes the church's patronal title also includes a description of the Marian feast day on which the consecration took place, such as "de-l'Assomption" or "de-l'Annonciation".
