On the edge of the Touraine metropolitan area, the Bois des Hâtes and its maze of paths offer calm and serenity to those who wish to venture there. The famous Via Turonensis, the road to Santiago de Compostela which links Paris to Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port, passes through the woods.

Departing from Balzac Island, a good option for leaving the city on a paved route and on a clean road. The route continues to Montrichard on a greenway/clean lane/small road.

Véretz and its 5,000 inhabitants constitute a small, quiet town on the banks of the Cher. A few shops enliven its town center. The “Château de Véretz”, rebuilt in the 19th century, dominates the Cher valley at the entrance to the village.

In Tours, Lake Bergeonnerie is the meeting place for athletes. Throughout a route where you can come across jogging and street workout enthusiasts, find a bench or a patch of grass to observe the sailing school practicing on the placid waters of the lake.

Unfortunately, it will probably never be operational again. To do this, two completely dismantled weirs on both sides of the island in the Cher would have to be rebuilt and the Cher must also carry sufficient water.

While running through the Forêt de Larçay, this small lake is a great place to stop, catch your breath and watch the wildlife, insects and birds that are drawn to the water.
