Emblematic cross of the forest of Fontainebleau and symbol of Gaullism. This cross is above all a tribute to the French resistance during the 2nd World War. Originally the cross of Lorraine is however a symbol of the Templars associated in particular with the crusades. This place was chosen because there operated a cell of resistance fighters who had installed a searchlight here to connect with planes from overseas. This cross serves as a commemoration for the 5 dead and 18 deported from this operation.

The Fontainebleau sandstones are sedimentary rock formations. These sandstones are very popular with climbers for their unique texture which provides excellent grip. They are also popular with artists for their use in sculpture and construction. Here, runners and runners will find landscape interest because these rocks are not particularly high, unlike others.
