The Church of Saint-Symphorien is a Roman Catholic church located in the town of Treillières, France. It was built in the 16th century in the Gothic style and features a three-bay gabled bell tower, typical of Gascon churches. Saint Symphorien is the patron saint of the parish of Treillières. A young Gallo-Roman from Autun (160-179), he was martyred for his Christian faith. His cult spread rapidly throughout Gaul, and he was, along with Martin, Medard, and others, one of the most popular saints in the early days of Christianity. The church was consolidated in 1937 and underwent repairs in 1956. The distinctive feature of the Church of Saint-Symphorien is its fountain, which is located in the village of La Baclais, near the church. The Saint-Symphorien fountain was a place of pagan worship before being Christianized. The locals regularly sought the virtues of the fountain's water, which they associated with those of Saint Symphorien. In times of drought, people would dip the base of the processional cross into the fountain to obtain, through the saint's intercession, beneficial rain. The Church of Saint Symphorien is a historically and culturally significant place of worship. It is an example of Gothic architecture and a symbol of the Christian faith in France. It is also a place of pilgrimage for devotees of Saint Symphorien and tourists visiting the region.

Rectories built before 1905 belong to the municipalities. However, routine maintenance related to their operation is the responsibility of the parishes. Buildings constructed after 1905 do not receive subsidies; they are the property of diocesan associations. In keeping with its sustainable development policy and committed to reducing construction waste, the City of Treillières is implementing a concrete and inclusive approach that promotes the circular economy and resource recovery. This initiative demonstrates our commitment to reuse by giving new life to the materials resulting from the deconstruction of the rectory, explains Alain Royer. By allowing these materials to be used for other projects, Treillières reaffirms its commitment to reducing waste and optimizing local resources, adds the mayor. Materials deposited during the construction work will be made available to the public free of charge on Friday, September 27, starting at 9 a.m., in the east wing of the presbytery, formerly occupied by the computer club, located at 2 Place de l'Église. Interested residents, associations, and artisans are invited to collect these reusable materials. The deconstruction work was entrusted to Atlantique-Bâtiment Travaux Publics (A-BTP), an industrial company specializing in construction work. It is recognized for its commitment to sustainable development and has obtained Qualibat certification, which attests to its expertise in its field, assures Alain Royer. We selected it as part of the call for tenders for the renovation and transformation of the presbytery into a music school, according to the plans designed by the architect from Nort-sur-Erdre. The project also includes an extension. The sum of €612,000 was allocated in the 2024 budget, which was approved in April 2024. Completion of the new music school is expected by the end of 2025 or the beginning of 2026.

Two Roman roads cross La Chapelle-sur-Erdre. That from Nantes to Nort-sur-Erdre is the most important. But there is also that of Ranzay in Mazaire. This small section shows the existence of a roadway used over the following centuries. It is the width of a cart: we can observe a furrow dug in the slabs on each side of the track.
