The large oak tree, which had stood there for several hundred years, fell to the ground in 1913 after being struck by lightning. Its stump is now protected by a small metal roof. The memorial stone dates from the 19th century, the Arbogast Chapel from 1955.

The ruins of the former pilgrimage chapel, dating from the 12th or 14th century, stand above the Climbach spring, which emerges from the rock here as a spring stream. It flows through a meadow into the old spring fountain, next to which a modern, walk-in wooden art installation in the form of a stylized window invites visitors to gaze at the idyllic landscape surrounding the village of Climbach. Benches and tables invite you to picnic and linger. You immediately sense that the location of the pilgrimage chapel was chosen for a reason: This is a special place! In pre-Christian times, there is said to have been a pagan place of worship here.
