The Porte des Allemands is a fortified city gate to the east of Metz. It served as a bridge over the Seille from the 13th century to the beginning of the 20th century. The German Gate (French Porte des Allemands) is located in the French city of Metz, Lorraine. The gate system, which is the only one of 17 medieval city gates of the Metz city wall that has survived,[1] was named after the neighboring former hospital of the Teutonic Order, which was established around 1210 near the church of St. Eucharius (Saint-Eucaire). had been. The name could therefore also be translated as Deutschherrentor. The gate castle formed the main entrance to the city of Metz from the east.
