I loved it, but it was closed when I arrived, what a shame, I would have loved to walk around it.

An impressive building from the 17th century, today it attracts visitors, in addition to exploring the building itself, with museums, a small zoo, and a magnificent view.

UNESCO World Heritage, what more can be said except that the Doubs Valley and the splendid ruins of old medieval castles from the top of wild cliffs have watched over the valley for centuries?

I have cycled this cycle path several times (different years) and each time I have passed these horrible looking factory ruins on the opposite bank - a very poor reception from Besançon - a real shame.

A ship tunnel (1810) that can be walked through from the side as a shortcut for the Le Doubs river canal. On the other side of the canal there is a lock about 3-4 m high. There is a water curtain at both portals and the interior is beautifully and decoratively lit. Worth seeing.

It is also possible to walk through the tunnel.

This Gallo-Roman triumphal arch was built around 175 AD in honor of the Emperor Marcus Aurelius after the victory over the Parthians in 166 and is characterized by a very rich sculpture. The columns are decorated with plant motifs, legendary scenes (mythology) and battle scenes.

The water channel in the tunnel is very impressive.
