A hiking trail with a lovely view. However, there are steep cliffs at this point, so there's no good way to the water.

Not a particularly inviting beach, so close to the concrete boat dock, and especially compared to the other beautiful beaches. If you're looking for a more beautiful beach, the somewhat hidden 'Plage de Sable Jeaune' is definitely recommended. It's also often shady here.

The small village is still located within the fortification walls of the former fortress. It's probably the first stop for day trippers. You can also rent bicycles here.

Beautiful beach in a small cove. Somewhat secluded. No lifeguards.

Fishing huts on stilts, typical of the Charentais coast. They are constructed with a frame containing a net. A bait is placed inside this net, and the entire structure is lowered into the water from above. Prey is attracted by up-and-down movements.

You get the feeling that Napoleon is about to ride around the corner!

Not far from the Rechignard battery, this cove which emerges among the trees offers a very beautiful view of the sea, with La Rochelle and the island of Ré in the background.
