This impressive cemetery was built in 1920-1921 on a site that was heavily contested during the First World War. It contains the remains of 1,258 French soldiers, 547 of whom are buried in two ossuaries. One French soldier from the Second World War is also buried here. Adjacent is a German military cemetery with the remains of 1,095 soldiers, 388 of whom are buried in collective graves, together with four British and two French soldiers. The necropolis is located in a region where the German advance towards Paris passed through in 1914, and where fierce fighting took place in 1918 during the Battle of Matz. Today it is a serene place of remembrance and reconciliation, in the middle of a landscape that was once the scene of devastating battles.

Joncourt British Cemetery is a serene military cemetery located in Joncourt, France, and contains the graves of British soldiers who died during the First World War. Designed by William Cowlishaw, the cemetery is situated on the road from Joncourt to Levergies, approximately half a mile south of the village centre1. With a rectangular plan and surrounded by a stone wall, the cemetery provides a peaceful place for reflection. The Cross of Sacrifice, a hallmark of British military cemeteries, stands in the western corner1. The graves of 61 soldiers, three of whom are unidentified, belong to the 10th Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders1. The cemetery is lovingly maintained by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission, who ensure that the memory of these soldiers is kept alive.

You will also discover the ruins of an old windmill dating from the 18th century. The trail begins at the old washhouse of Fontaine Sorel, where you can admire the ancient architecture and the water source. The Montagne du Paradis in Élincourt-Sainte-Marguerite is an ideal destination for a refreshing and picturesque run in the great outdoors.

The Familistère consisted of 558 apartments and 350 houses. The building had a central courtyard under a glass roof. The residents had a very comfortable and luxurious life. All houses and apartments had running water, a rubbish chute and two toilets. There were also allotment gardens, nurseries and schools. Because Jean-Baptiste André Godin was against child labour, every child could go to school.

One of the unfortunately many small cemeteries following the terrible First World War that raged here in the early 20th century. Around Oncourt you will find several of these cemeteries, as well as bunkers from that time. A sad past.

The French national necropolis and the German cemetery of Thiescourt are cemeteries of the First World War, located on the territory of the municipality of Thiescourt, in the department of Oise. Located at the exit of the village, near the church and adjacent to the civil cemetery, they are dedicated to French and German soldiers who died in particular during the fighting in the spring and summer of 1918.
