✝️ Field Cross near Schwerdorff (Moselle) This beautifully framed field cross stands free on a hill near Schwerdorff, framed by two striking trees and offering a sweeping view of the rolling hills of Lorraine. The base bears an inscription with a date – many such crosses were erected in the 19th century as symbols of faith or in commemoration of special events. Tip: If you're hiking in the area, be sure to pause here for a moment. Especially in the evening light, the cross offers a tranquil, almost meditative atmosphere with a view of the expanse of the Moselle region.

🏰 Gatehouse Bourg d'Esch A mighty gatehouse of a former 13th-century castle, now part of a still-active farm. The stone walls and gates provide a good impression of medieval life in Bourg-Esch – impressively preserved and quietly located. Tip: Ideal for a photo stop along the way – park near Schwerdorff and take a short walk to the gatehouse. Observe the vibrant interplay of historic stone and rural surroundings.

One of the most beautiful monuments in the Nordgau dominates the landscape of our village center. For over 130 years it served as a place of worship for the residents of Oberesch and was the center of their religious life. The chapel, which is a listed building, was built between 1831 and 1833.

Starting point of various hiking trails - partially barrier-free. You can usually find flyers with directions at the entrance to the village community center.

After a brisk ascent, a really nice place to take a break. Unfortunately no water flows.
