Rocamadour is a small cliffside village in south-central France. It is known for its Religious City, a complex of religious buildings accessible by the grand staircase. Among these buildings are the Notre-Dame chapel, with its statue of the Black Madonna, and the Saint-Sauveur basilica, of Romanesque-Gothic architecture. The Monkey Forest, a park where macaques live freely, is located in the northeast. The Rocher des Aigles ornithological park is located to the west.

Moulin du Saut와 폭포

Built in the 15th century on foundations dating from the 13th or 14th century, the Moulin du Saut is one of the historic turbine mills in the Alzou Valley. It was reconstructed in the 18th century and used until 1914. The mill used water energy to drive the turbines and was used for a time to generate electricity.

You can easily reach the foot of the waterfall in just over half an hour from Autoire (follow the signs). From here the path begins in serpentines up the rocks - difficult, but worth it because of the great view!

The construction of the church of Saint-Pierre was begun in the late 11th century as a priory of the Benedictine Abbey of Saint-Pierre of Moissac. In the 12th century, the open narthex (vestibule) was built. The time of the Hundred Years War brought destruction and plunder. Its traces of the church and the abbey buildings were largely repaired in the second half of the 15th century as part of extensive renovations.
