Artificial natural site formed by the exploitation of a clay quarry

An old Romanesque church like many churches in this region. It has its cemetery and is only open on religious holidays. As for the town, it has less than 200 inhabitants, there are no amenities, no shops, no cafes.

The trail offers a beautiful view of the blue lake of Guizengard. The water takes on a thousand azure hues, creating an almost unreal setting. The site has great ecological value with the presence of numerous plant and animal species. Among the most remarkable, the bee-eater, this beautiful, brightly colored bird has found refuge here to the delight of walkers.

We have a superb view of one of the blue lakes of Touvérac. These are actually old white clay quarries. Land exploitation had left large holes that rainwater has filled over the years. The site has been managed since 1996 by the Regional Conservatory of Natural Spaces of Poitou-Charente. The flora developed to create heaths with their characteristic plants. You can also observe many animal species throughout the seasons.
