From the hill, if we exclude the overbuilding that has also affected this area, one can enjoy a splendid panorama of the nearby peaks and in particular of the Aiguilles d'Arves, which are in a way the symbol of the entire area. From the pass, if you continue, you descend towards St. Sorlin d'Arves and join up with the road which, starting from St. Jean de Maurienne, continues towards the pass of the Croix de Fer. I preferred to go back towards Albiez to descend directly to St Jean, avoiding the tunnels that I would have had to go through when descending from St Sorlin.

You did it and reached the Col de Mollard at an altitude of 1,638 meters! The view of the jagged peaks of the Aiguilles d'Arves is simply awesome.

The idyllic town of Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne is the ideal starting point for numerous racing bike routes. This is where the Opinel knife was born - it is always with me on my tours. You can visit the Opinel Museum here and have an excellent meal after your tour.

We drove from Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne over the Col du Mollard on the Croix de Fer. Great route with little traffic. Only the connecting road (downhill) between Mollard and Croix de Fer was not great. Then back over the Glandon. Highly recommended 👍

The Col du Mollard is off the main routes probably more of a secret. Especially from Villargondran a particularly beautiful climb with countless hairpin bends in the forest. Very quiet street, very good to drive.

The 40 bends with a pleasant gradient of 5 - 8% to the Col de Mollard along the quiet and shady D80 are a wonderful and relaxing driveway, especially on hot days.
