This refuge is managed and open only during the summer months. It's possible to stop for a break when climbing to the summit of Rocciamelone. It's located approximately halfway between La Riposa and Rocciamelone.

You can barely see it in the photo, but the wooden footbridge has almost completely collapsed. To cross the river towards Ciamarella, you have to go forward about 10-15 meters. You can cross the river by walking over some rocky outcrops. The best spot is marked with cairns.

The ascent to the lake takes quite a long time. Eventually the gravel heap of terminal morays is reached and a short time later you are finally at the lake. Once at the top, it is definitely worth taking the path along the lake to the glacier.
