At the Abbey of Saint-Savin, a sight you'll never tire of awaits: the Gartempe River flowing gently past the ancient stone walls, and the medieval Pont de Saint-Savin spanning the river, with the abbey in the background. A truly magnificent view! The combination of water, bridge, and Romanesque architecture makes this a perfect oasis. Take a moment to sit on the banks.

I wasn't supposed to get here, but I recommend stopping by. In summer, the lake invites you to jump in, but the reason for my stop was my stomach. Top quality/price ratio at: "Les Saveurs de Brenne".

The Beissat Bridge is a 13th century Gothic structure, listed as a historical monument by decree of 23 November 1970. The oldest mention of this bridge is the allusion to a transaction in 1470 relating to neighbouring mills. A toll on this bridge, probably in force for a long time, was closed in 1660. The structure formerly linked Bellac to Le Dorat. It consists of four arches, the middle one being semicircular and the other three being pointed arches. The piers are very wide and the profile is humpbacked. The spurs have a very sharp acute angle. In 1567, Monsieur de La Messelière's company broke the bridge to stop the Huguenot army. It was certainly at this time that the semicircular arch was rebuilt.

Very good Gravel route with a first part engaged due to the humid spring weather conditions. (Mud, tall grass, rus become streams to cross. A single track on the Alienor trail which is super nice. Ultimately few roads. Two closed passages which we easily bypassed.

The La Forge Inn is located in a very beautiful location. In fine weather, the terrace is open to you in the garden and allows you to enjoy the shaded and flowered arbors.
