The castle overlooks the Ain plain. A few benches are available for relaxing while admiring the view. It's possible to walk around the castle by continuing along the path past the entrance. It's accessible with a paid ticket, and opening hours vary depending on the season.

Officially referenced pass, its 2 sides are: Saint-Rambert-en-Bugey and Ambérieu-en-Bugey.

Allymes Castle is the only example of a medieval fortress in Bugey. Overlooking Ambérieu-en-Bugey, it is built on a mountain 650 meters above sea level. Its geographical location offers a breathtaking view of Savoyard Bresse and Dombes. As a strategic stronghold, it protected the entrance to Savoy, which was an independent state at the time. Indeed the climb above Lac Bleu is very steep unless you have an electric bike which simplifies things

Very nice tour apart from the section after visiting the source where you have to push or carry your bike on very steep and slippery terrain. We would have to find another way to avoid this section. The rest of the course is suitable for all levels.

Lots of trails and shaded paths in the woods. On the other hand, it is preferable not to take at the start, the path above the Abèanches is very steep. It’s best to start at the source of the roach. Nice circuit with very few roads.
