During the construction of the Klostermansfeld - Wippra railway line from 1914 to 1920, the mountain spur on which Rammelsburg Castle is located was tunneled under. According to tradition, this was done on the initiative of the Heimburg family, who owned the castle at the time, so that their hunting grounds would not be affected.

The Wettelrode artificial pond was created in 1728 as part of the copper mining industry. It was used to supply the Carolus shaft with water. Today the pond is a local recreation area and is used for fishing and swimming. A few meters further on, on the west bank, you will find a restaurant for a stop.
