Located at the gates of the Haut-Jura regional natural park, Champagnole is also considered the “pearl of the Jura”. Perched at an altitude of 540 meters on the banks of the Ain, the town is located in a wonderful natural setting. There is also an archaeological museum due to the discovery of remains on Mont Rivel.

A beautiful and calm place to swim in front of the waterfalls, be careful, the water is cold! There is also room on the side for a picnic.

Several million years ago, the Ain was lost underground, in a labyrinth of cavities, an underground gallery called "losses". Over time, the work of water erosion has done its work, and has nibbled the limestone and destroyed the vault of the underground gallery. It remains today a unique natural site where water makes its way between rocky piles and stone remains.

The Pont de l'Épée bridge spans the Ain river. When the sun is at its zenith, the color of the water is magnificent. The view of the river and the weir located downstream deserves a short break.

A marked and laid out path allows you to follow the bubbling Ain river along narrow and deep gorges, rocks and waterfalls, all surrounded by forest.
