10 minutes from La Rochelle and the Ile de Ré, at the gates of the Marais Poitevin, Esnandes has retained its authenticity as a Charente village by the sea. The carrelets, fishermen's huts on stilts, typical of this part of the Atlantic Coast, line the cliff. In Esnandes, the rental of a plaice is possible for half a day or for the day. (Information at the museum) A coastal cycle path starts from the village and goes to Ile de Ré or La Rochelle, passing through picturesque seaside villages. Esnandes also has a swimming pool, two restaurants by the sea, all local shops, a pharmacy and two doctors.
