The Church of Sainte-Madeleine is a masterpiece of Gothic architecture and is a listed historic monument. Construction began in 1183, and over the centuries it has become an important witness to the local and religious history of Montargis. Its impressive historic leaded glass windows are noteworthy.

Montargis is a town with approximately 15,000 inhabitants in the Centre-Val de Loire region. Located between various small lakes and historic waterways (the Loire and Seine, the Briare Canal, the Loing Canal, and, somewhat further away, the Orléans Canal) and the Vernisson, this characteristic small town in the Loing Valley deserves its nickname "Venice of the Gâtinais" with its canals, some underground, some visible, and over 130 bridges and footbridges.
