Small village nestled in an enchanting setting between the woods and a huge pond, on the edge of the Orléans forest, with its half-timbered houses and beautifully restored old farms.

The Ravoir pond, in the Orléans forest, is a biological reserve with rich and diverse fauna and flora, where you can observe the nesting of the osprey, a magnificent fishing raptor rare in France. An observatory located at the edge of the lake will allow you to learn more about this bird and its habitat thanks to the staff of Loiret Nature Environnement. You can also walk the trails around the lake and discover the other wildlife species that inhabit the forest. The observatory is open from May to August, every Sunday from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Don't forget to bring your binoculars and camera!

The castle of Dampierre-en-Burly dates from the 15th and 16th centuries, when it belonged to the Cugnac family. Decorated by the painter Michel Dorigny, it was destroyed during the French Revolution. Only the clock tower, which serves as the entrance, remains of the original building. The current castle was rebuilt in the 19th century by Amédée de Béhague, an agronomist who created an estate of 2,000 hectares. The castle is not open to the public, but you can admire its architecture and gardens from the outside. You can also discover the neighboring village of Dampierre-en-Burly, which has remains of fortifications from the Middle Ages.

The Château du Solin is an ancient fortress built in the 12th century by Blanchard de Lorris, a vassal of King Louis VI. The castle, also known as the Château de la Reine-Blanche, is surrounded by a moat and overlooks one of the most beautiful ponds in the region. You can admire the elegant architecture of the main building and the tower, as well as the Romanesque portal of the neighboring church dedicated to Saint Philippe and Saint Loup. The Solin river, which flows at the foot of the castle, has its source in the Bernaudière pond, where legend has it that Queen Blanche of Castile appeared at midnight with her ladies-in-waiting.

Nice view of the castle of Dampierre-en-Burly from the bridge separating the Etang du Bourg and the Etang du Grand Moulin. It was built in the 17th century then completely renovated in the 19th and today offers us its magnificent ramparts to observe (unable to visit it as it is a private castle).

One of the many fountains existing in the Orléans national forest (the largest in France), which are also one of the reasons why the Maquis de Lorris was established there.

Dampierre-en-Burly has two ponds: the Etang du Bourg to the north and the Etang du Grand Moulin to the south. In their very bucolic setting, both are popular with locals on Sunday walks.
