For me, this is one of the most difficult passes to climb, with astonishing gradients, exceeding 16% in some places. The view from the summit is magnificent, but be careful, the road is very narrow on the descent. An experience not to be missed for lovers of cycling and intense effort.

Avoid public holidays and vacation periods...

Although short, the ascent of Mount Artzamendi is classified as an hors catégorie due to its steep slopes. This is especially the case after kilometer 7, where the gradient often hovers around 15%, peaking at 20%.

Baïgura, and Erregelu which is located on the same ridge, are a beautiful place for hiking with the family, particularly because of the presence of a leisure center at the foot of the massif.

Very beautiful hike, quite difficult, it climbs steeply from the start. Superb view of the Pyrenees, mountains and the Basque coast. Variant on this route, going up, turn right before starting the ascent along the ridge line... easier. End of hike, poorly described with a return to the village very far from the fronton parking lot. D or my turn back at the end. Have a good hike 🥾🌶️⛰️
