Here, a signpost for the Eco Trail points the way to the castle hill and the old quarry. On the summit plateau of the 440-meter-high castle hill, remnants of a rampart are preserved. Finds from the Neolithic Michelsberg culture (4200 to 3500 BC) and the pre-Roman Iron Age (750 to the birth of Christ) attest to the hill's temporary settlement. From 1904 to 1972, a basalt quarry was operated, providing employment for many men from Großenritte.
