At the St. Jakob cable car station you have pretty much reached the end of the Isenthal, at least with a racing bike. The asphalt road ends a few meters further ahead, so turn around here and enjoy the descent back to Lake Lucerne.

The Altdorf landmark, Altdorf The Tell monument, created by the Solothurn sculptor Richard Kissling, was inaugurated in 1895 with a magnificent celebration and its own festival. The event attracted great national interest and the Federal Council even sent a delegation of three to Altdorf. Interestingly, the year 1307 adorns the base of the Tell monument and not the legendary founding year of the Swiss Confederation, 1291. The reason: according to calculations by the Glarus historian Aegidius Tschudi, the Rütli Oath and the Apple Shooting took place in 1307.
