Before 1885, the town of Grasse was supplied by the Source de la Foux. But with the establishment of factories and perfumeries, his inflow quickly became insufficient. In 1874 the municipality of Grasse became the owner of Source Foulon. The plans were approved in 1878 and the canal was inaugurated on July 21, 1889.
