The view from Cracko Lighthouse is simply breathtaking and well worth the effort. When you reach the lighthouse, you will be rewarded with sweeping vistas of the coastline, where the vast expanse of ocean meets the sky.

Nowadays, they are hardly ever used for their original purpose, but are merely technical and historical monuments to a long tradition of craftsmanship: the heavy millstones inside were moved using the power of the wind as the driving force, for example to grind grain into flour (so-called grain mills) or to press oil from fruits (e.g. olives) (so-called oil mills). These old windmills are therefore the best proof that people were clever enough to harness the power of the wind a number of centuries ago - long before the discovery of electricity and the inventions that followed.

Impressive old church at the end of the harbor

This beautiful church of Romanesque origin was first built after the Scandinavian invasions. It was destroyed and rebuilt numerous times. It is dedicated to Saint-Nicolas, patron saint of fishermen.

“Landamerki” in Scandinavian means “landmark”. He gave the English word “landmark”. The Norman origin of this beautiful bay and its cape is therefore beyond doubt.
