The Church of Saint John the Baptist (Église Saint-Jean-Baptiste) is the parish church of the town of Audresselles, which is part of the Pas-de-Calais department. It is a fortified church from the 12th century. The nave and the choir were set on fire in the first half of the 16th century by the troops of Henry VIII. The nave was rebuilt in a smaller form in the 18th century. The choir was rebuilt at the beginning of the 19th century under Louis XVIII.

The church, with its fortified walls, contains a statue of Saint Peter of Ambleteuse, one of the companions of Saint Augustine, who was shipwrecked in this area in 606 on his return from England.

Saint Eligius Church

Bazinghen is a charming hamlet marked by the bocage landscape of Boulonnais. It is crossed by small country roads perfect for outings without too much traffic.

Currently very overgrown. Long trousers recommended.

It was in this Saint-Jean-Baptiste church, at the entrance to Audresselles, that the funeral masses, among others, took place in the series Le P'tit Quinquin and its sequel, Coincoin et les Zin humaines . Inside, we find the old piano on which “Cause I knew” was played during the funeral. This church, built of stone, is dedicated to fishermen. Moreover, every August 15, a pilgrimage sets off towards the sea, with flobarts, typical boats from Boulonnais, transported by the faithful.

Fort Mahon, known as Fort Vauban or Fort Ambleteuse, was built around 1680 by the architect Vauban to protect against invasions.
