Picket fences serve as coastal protection. They stabilize the dunes and protect them from erosion. The fence slows the wind, and sand collects around the pickets and settles behind the fence.

A beautiful beach promenade lined with Belle Époque villas and blue-and-white beach cabins. At the southern end, there's an ice cream van from the local ice cream parlor Nicole Artisan Glacier. At €3.50 per scoop, it's not exactly cheap, but it's delicious! Quality has its price. It's best to take advantage of the bulk discount and get three scoops for a total of €7. :)

Bunkerreste am Strand

Fort Mahon, known as Fort Vauban or Fort Ambleteuse, was built around 1680 by the architect Vauban to protect against invasions.

Wooden footbridge allowing you to cross the marshy area of the Slack at the entrance to the dunes. This beautiful path crosses the entirety of the dunes of the Slack to the coast at the Wimereux golf course.

Incredibly beautiful paths - partly on wooden planks, partly through fine sand. A small, hidden natural paradise that can be wonderfully explored on a circular hike.
