Appointed parish priest of Châteauneuf-sur-Cher in 1861, Abbé Ducros discovered a ruined church. To rebuild it, he decides to subscribe, asking "two pennies" from each child in exchange for which he promises to pray for him the Virgin Mary. The first castle was built in the eleventh century to control the Cher valley. Until the sixteenth century, it belonged to large feudatories, the Déols-Châteauroux and the Culan (t) . The Culan (t) 2 have held Châteauneuf and St-Désiré since at least - Renoul II, 'Ap. 1253: first in their elder branch up to - Aénor/Eléonore, lady of Culan, in 1420 without any posterity of her two marriages.
