The Heinrichstein is a jagged rock massif with a viewpoint at a height of around 500 m on the western slope of the Saale valley in the upper part of the Bleiloch dam. The beauty of the view from the Heinrichstein, even before the Bleiloch dam was built, was praised by Ludwig Ganghofer in two poems in 1912. It probably takes its name from the Lords of Reuss, who all had the nickname Heinrich since the 12th century.

8월 7, 2024, Bleiloch Reservoir at Saalburg
The lake is 28 km long and has a water volume of 215 million m³. The dam was built between 1926 and 1932 for flood protection and to generate energy. It is 205 meters long, 65 meters high and 47 meters wide at the base. It is located in the northernmost part between the Bleiberg mountains. The reservoir got its name from these mountains.

Just behind the town entrance is a great bakery, Schleizer Landbäckerei, with good coffee and food. Bonus: Includes toilet and power sockets next to the bench!

No matter what time of year, the viewpoint is always a recommendation 👌🏻 Whether you dare to do it on a bike, you should have walked it beforehand, very narrow hairpin bends and lots of rocks in the trail!
