At the tip of the fortified spur of Crépy-en-Valois, the former Saint-Arnoul priory (founded in the 10th century, which became a Benedictine abbey and then an important Cluniac priory in 1076) suffered heavy damage during the Hundred Years' War, particularly during the sack of 1434. The Notre-Dame de Morienval abbey is a former Benedictine abbey for women, probably founded during the third quarter of the 9th century by Charles the Bald, in a valley near Crépy-en-Valois, in the current town of Morienval in the Oise.
