Great church building, unfortunately the church was closed

A very busy and touristy town with many wine bars and restaurants. An excellent place to spend a day.

The motorhome stayed on the grounds of the sauerkraut factory. We cycled along quiet paths to Obernai. We really liked the town center. It has some lovely restaurants and shops. A visit to the city walls is recommended, even though they are no longer completely intact. We particularly liked the Böckler chocolatier's shop, with its many sweet treats. A visit to Obernai is highly recommended.

The "White Cross" – dominating the landscape here due to its monumental size – is far more than just a small sacred monument, such as hikers and cyclists often encounter. The name of the corresponding hiking highlight is much more descriptive in this regard: "Mémorial des évadés et incorporés de force ADEIF." The parish church, built in 1771 in Ottrott-le-Haut, is dedicated to Saints Simon and Jude and features the characteristics of 17th-century Alsatian churches. In 1793, Silbermann organs from the Collegiate Church of St. Leonard were installed there. Numerous concerts were held there, to the great delight of music lovers.
