The Port de la Houle is the historic fishing port in the La Houle district. It is a center of oyster and fishing activities and is surrounded by traditional fishermen's houses. Today, the harbor invites you to stroll, enjoy culinary experiences, and enjoy beautiful views of the Bay of Mont Saint-Michel.

North of the town of Cancale, this beautiful 2-km-long sandy beach adjoins the lagoon and is home to a back-littoral marsh where you can observe characteristic flora and fauna. Numerous activities are available on site: swimming, hiking, geocaching, and visits to two of Cancale's must-see heritage sites: the Verger Chapel and the Daules customs guardhouse. Lifeguards are available during the summer.

Definitely a better choice for getting to Dinan than the bridge closer to Saint Malo.

Going back up towards St-Malo, a pretty path to the left (Rance valley) allows you to partly avoid the D117.

The stronghold for fresh oysters. They are offered fresh right on the beach in front of the oyster beds. You should definitely try them. Otherwise you can enjoy a great view of the bay from the higher vantage points or follow the coastal hiking trail, which is also higher up, or explore the town center on the mountain.

Swimming is only possible at high tide. In the bay of Mont-Saint-Michel the sea is far away the rest of the time.

La Houle is the only south-facing port
