The Munster witch trials took place from 1539 to 1632 in the imperial city of Munster, whose jurisdiction also extended to the villages of the Val Saint-Grégoire commune. These trials, which took place against a backdrop of particularly fierce witch hunts in Alsace, claimed forty-four victims, most of whom were sentenced to death. The vast majority of victims were women, although towards the end of the period men and even children were also affected.
