Located in Alsace, Betschdorf is a village full of charm, renowned as the village of potters. This village in northern Alsace is just magnificent. I recommend vacationers and passers-by to take a moment to visit it and learn about the history of the place. Pretty half-timbered houses and quite a few pottery shops

In 1778, the architect Charpentier designed the plans for a mixed church. The building, built in 1787, incorporates the ribbed vaulted choir of a previous sanctuary. Destroyed during the Second World War, a new Protestant church was built in 1961 on the site of the old sanctuary. A new Catholic church, dedicated to Saint-Gall, was built in 1962-1963 by the architect Pillon. It has the largest post-war stained glass window in Alsace. The stained glass windows, produced by master glassmaker Tristan Ruhlmann, and whose sketch was produced by Joseph Jochum, parish priest from 1950 to 1998, are unique in their artistic aspects, but also for their biblical and ecumenical representation.

Betschdorf, shaped in its historic core of half-timbered houses, is, as well as the neighboring Soufflenheim, as a "pottery village". In fact, there are numerous pottery factories in both communities that are particularly known for their salt glazed stoneware.
