The Canche (Dutch: Kwinte) is a river in France, flowing through the Pas-de-Calais department in the Hauts-de-France region. It originates in the Ternois region, within the commune of Gouy-en-Ternois. Initially flowing southeast, it then turns northwest and, after approximately 100 kilometers, empties into the English Channel as an estuary north of Étaples and Le Touquet-Paris-Plage. Here, the Canche is strongly influenced by the tides. This results in significant fluctuations in the river's water level and the formation of extensive salt marshes.

Here, there is a series of artworks and sculptures, including “BLACK MAN” by Bruno Catalano. Take a stroll and let yourself be transported by these artistic manifestations.

The city concentrates a significant number of economic activities and services: commerce, crafts, etc. The Saint-Paul parish church with its unusual architecture does not go unnoticed. At the beginning of the 20th century, Saint-Pol and the Ternois remained outside the industrial revolution. Only the textile industry and a few agri-food industries are present.

Town of Hesdin: pretty town of church and historic building with a beautiful mix of architecture; with cafes, restaurants and shops in the city center for a nice break.
