The sculpture of the Fisherman, created by Sacha Fasquel, has been unveiled at the Maréïs roundabout. Keen to reconnect with its roots and commemorate its origins, the town had launched a competition for a sculpture of a Fisherman. Sacha Fasquel was selected for the project after his sketches were approved by the town's fishermen. The sculpture had already been presented to the public at the last Sculpture Exhibition in April, at the Corderie Hall, and it was only natural that it should find its permanent home at the Maréïs roundabout, gazing towards Boulogne-sur-Mer. This statue was entirely funded by private corporate sponsorship, and the town wishes to thank Crédit Maritime and Eurovia. Will a pretty sailor girl one day accompany the Fisherman through the town?
