In Bouxwiller, the entire old town consists of half-timbered houses. Many are beautifully preserved, while others have been worn down by the ravages of time. If you walk through the streets with your eyes open, you'll discover small balconies, bay windows, and colorful paintings on the houses. The houses also still have wooden shutters, which are secured with latches. Some latches depict a man's or woman's head.

The Marie Hart Fountain / Marie Hart Fountain or Goose Fountain Source: https://www.itinerairesprotestants.fr/circuits/marie-hart Built not far from his father's pharmacy, the Marie Hart Fountain was inaugurated in 1991 to mark the 80th anniversary of the publication of "Stories and Memories from the Sixties." This story gives the author the opportunity to describe her childhood in Bouxwiller as a happy time. The water flows through a trough of the former Auberge de l'Ours, which was destroyed by fire in the early 1980s. A quote in Alsatian by Marie Hart adorns the fountain's main element: When there are many flowers at the spring, The stream does not forgive, And in its very late course The flowers follow. If there are many flowers at the spring, the stream will not forget them, and on its further journey, the flowers will follow it.

It has retained its charm with its half-timbered houses, its remarkable bay windows, alleys that hide more than one curiosity detours. The oldest surviving documentary mention of Bouxwiller can be found in a deed of donation from 724, when goods in Puxuwilare were donated to the Weißenburg monastery.
