Beautiful views in the heart of Wissembourg

An idyllic bike path through the forest on good asphalt. I was there in the dark after 8 pm, it was a bit mystical :-)

Hermerswiller is a small village with some beautiful, remarkably well-maintained half-timbered buildings.

This German monument commemorates soldiers from various wars, including the War of August 4, 1870, the War of Woerth on August 6, 1870, and the Siege of Paris. It is a yellow sandstone monument, topped with the large German cross.

This monument is dedicated to the soldiers of the German 3rd Army who fell on August 4, 1870. The stele itself bears bronze plaques bearing the effigies of Prince Friedrich Wilhelm, Commander-in-Chief, as well as those of Generals von Hartmann, von Kirchbach, and von Bose. Nearby is the memorial to the 58th Regiment of the Prussian 5th Corps, which includes two monuments, dedicated to Major Groenefeld, and to the officers, non-commissioned officers, and soldiers who fell during the battle of August 4, 1870.
