From the cycle path, you can see the old Saar barges. These were built between the two world wars. They were previously pulled by hand on the canals and rivers; they were said to be towed (hence the name towpaths), now rehabilitated as cycle paths.

The fact that you can cross the border here (almost) unnoticed is thanks to the Schengen Agreement, which was initially signed between Germany, France and the BeNeLux countries at the border triangle (Saarland, France, Luxembourg). Germany, France and the BeNeLux countries therefore play a very important role in Europe as we know it today. From here you can easily get to Schengen on the Moselle. Very nice there too.

A good and beautifully laid out opportunity to cross the Saar, on the German side the cycle path is not so good, but there is a train stop and parking spaces right near the bridge.

The Bliesmühle (French Moulin de la Blies) is located in Saargemünd in the French department of Moselle. The former stone mill was built in 1841 on the Blies, a tributary of the Saar, and is now a museum for stoneware production techniques. The Bliesmühle was built in 1841 by Alexandre de Geiger and was in operation from then until 1969. The mill was used to produce the raw material for earthenware. The material was used for the faience of Saargemünd. In 1990 the mill was bought by the city of Saargemünd and in 1998 it was converted into a museum for earthenware techniques. In 2009, the museum's gardens were opened to the public.
