The Sucrerie Military Cemetery was built by French troops in the early summer of 1915, a few hundred meters from the Mailly-Maillet sugar refinery from which it takes its name, before being used by the British from July 1915 to August 1918. It now contains 1,104 graves, 219 of which have not been identified: 965 British, 13 Canadian, 29 Australian, 65 New Zealander, and 32 South African. The last man buried here was in fact a Scottish soldier, Alexander McIntyre, of the Cameron Highlanders, who died on December 25, 1918, at the age of 50. He had been transferred to the 5th Prisoner of War Company, which suggests that he was guarding German prisoners after the armistice and that he died, accidentally or naturally, during his service.

The Euston Road Cemetery in Colincamps contains 1,293 graves of men killed mainly during the Battle of Serre on July 1, 1916, and the capture of Beaumont-Hamel on November 13, during the Battle of the Somme: 960 British, 4 Canadians, 26 Australians, 302 New Zealanders, and 1 Indian. During the Great War, Colincamps was a village less than 2 kilometers behind the British front lines and was regularly bombarded by German artillery. The village found itself on the front line in the spring of 1918 during the German counterattack "Michael," whose fighting on April 5, 1918, claimed many New Zealand casualties, who were buried here, defending Colincamps. Euston is a town in England, located in Suffolk. It is also the name of a railway station and an underground station in London, where there is also Euston Road. It's just another way for the British to evoke the country.

Château de Bavincourt is a castle located in the commune of Bavincourt, in the Pas-de-Calais department of France. An old manor house used to stand on the site of the present castle and its motte was still there during the construction of the latter; however, not much is known about it. The current castle was built by François Deslions, nephew of Jean-Louis Deslions, canon and dean of Saint-Omer, who had inherited the lands of Bavincourt.

Pretty village which deserves that one lingers there in particular for its belfry.

Apart from the old keep that can be seen from the western part of the village, the castle of Lucheux, which has become an IME, has been destroyed several times, has kept among others its doors including the one known as "the village" which is visible from the paved road that goes up of the belfry.

Lucheux is a pretty village in the Somme. It was an imposing seigneury from the 12th century and remains the only town in Picardy to keep the three symbolic buildings of French medieval society: the castle, the belfry and the church. It deserves to be included in one of your cycling or hiking trips.
