The basilica offers stunning views of the Alpine foothills. Hikes during the pear blossom season are particularly recommended, and many pilgrims visit throughout the year.

Unfortunately, the fountain was dismantled in 2024 due to the construction of the new main square. Although a new fountain was erected, it cannot compare to the Kilian Fountain, which had long been a prominent feature of the cityscape.

The monument to the ancestors of the Gleiss lordship provides insight into the history of the castle and the community of Sonntagberg. Behind it lies the entrance to the remains of the castle ruins.

At the upper edge of Allhartsberg, a steep climb begins up to the Mostviertel High Road, rewarded with ever-increasing views. It begins with a view of the basilica on Sonntagberg, then increasingly more views over the hills to the villages northwest of the Ybbs. Finally, before the upper forest, there is a direct view of the southern slope of Allhartsberg, all the way to the Mühlviertel and Waldviertel.

The scenery is very beautiful, but the riding technique and terrain are definitely not up to the challenge of mountain biking!!!! What a pity😩

Pilgrimage Church of the Holy Trinity and St. Michael. The Baroque basilica on the Sonntagberg is one of the most striking landmarks of the Mostviertel region. The remarkable Baroque high altar, an independent circular temple on a high base with twelve fluted columns – symbolizing the twelve tribes of Israel – was built from 1751 to 1757 according to a design by the architect and sculptor Melchior Hefele. At the center of the high altar stands the miraculous image of the Holy Trinity from 1614.

With the bypass, the market square has become less traffic-intensive
