The Church of Saint-Pierre and Saint-Paul is a Catholic parish church located in Jaux, in the Oise department, France. It was built, for its oldest parts, in the 12th century. Following the ravages of the Hundred Years' War, the building was partly rebuilt in the 16th century. Renovation work is planned for the next two years. https://www.jaux.fr/vivre-a-jaux/decouvrir-jaux/leglise-du-xiieme/ https://www.fondation-patrimoine.org/les-projets/objets-d-art-de-l-eglise-saint-pierre-de-jaux/59383

The town hall of Compiègne is a municipal building built in the 16th century. This imposing building remains as much an example of civil architecture in the Louis XII style of the first decades of the 16th century as of the extensive restorations of the 19th century. A statue of Joan of Arc sits on the square of the empty hotel.

Compiègne's town hall has been here since the 13th century, but the current building dates from the 16th century, erected under Louis XII, king of France. The building is in flamboyant Gothic style. It was badly damaged in 1792 but was later completely restored by Viollet-le-Duc, the somewhat controversial architect who also restored the Château de Pierrefonds. At the very top of the building, don't miss the three "picantins" who chime (sound) the hours. There is an Englishman, a German and a Fleming, all three enemies of France in the 16th century. ••• Question: what happened in 1792 for the statues on the facade to be destroyed? ••• Answer: in 1792 and 1793, under the impetus of the French Revolution, France endured Dechristianization. Masses are banned, priests are deported or killed, statues are destroyed... Text: ©Seevisit Patrick Palmas

This keep is a vestige of the palace of Charles II the Bald, king of France from 843 to 877. He had a new castle built here, on the banks of the Oise, abandoning the castle used until then by previous kings. Text: ©Seevisit Patrick Palmas

Opposite the keep was the Pont Saint-Louis, a medieval bridge surmounted by houses.
