The Château de Blandy-les-Tours is a fortified castle located in the commune of Blandy-les-Tours in the department of Seine-et-Marne, 70 km from Paris, and not far from the Château de Vaux-le-Vicomte. This building was built between the 13th and the second half of the 14th century. From a simple fortified manor to a fortified castle of the Hundred Years' War, from a residential castle to the Ferme des Tours, the Château de Blandy-les-Tours has had a long history and has been the property of prestigious families. Acquired in 1992 by the Seine-et-Marne departmental council, it was the subject of restoration campaigns and archaeological excavations until its reopening in 2007. Located in a remarkable historic setting, this press was used to crush apples. The sandstone wheel was driven by animal traction. In the center, a horse or donkey was harnessed to the training axis. This fruit press is located near the castle of Blandy Les Tours. The culture of this region today is mainly cereal. In the past many orchards were maintained to produce apples used to make cider. They were crushed before being pressed in a cider press installed nearby.

Here is a quite peaceful little stream, ideal for a walk. One can cross the ford through a stone bridge. The place is surrounded by houses and green gardens.

The castle of Blandy-les-Tours was originally a fortified manor. Having become a fortified castle during the Hundred Years War, it again became a residence during the Renaissance. It is a fairly rare witness to the military architecture of the Middle Ages. Observe the size of its towers and you will see why!
